Personenwagen Cid-27 „Donnerbüchse“ (1:35) - 35033
Plastic model kit
'Donnerbüchse' (or 'Donnerwagen' / 'Thunderbox') refers to the two-axle passenger cars of the German Reichsbahn, which were first produced in 1921 and, unlike their wooden predecessors, were made entirely of steel. The name 'Donnerbüchse' comes from the loud noise these vehicles made due to their lack of insulation.
The Cid-27 version was a type of all-steel car produced between 1927 and 1928. It had 66 seats and 440 were produced. The Personenwagen Cid-27 was part of the "Austauschbau" (typified replacement construction) series, meaning that it was built from interchangeable parts, a common design approach during this period.
The last Donnerbüchsen cars were used by Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) until the late 1970s, while in Poland they remained in passenger service until 1989.
