De Havilland Vampire FB.5/FB.9 (1:48) - A06108
Airplane model kit. Scale: 1:48; size: 19,5 cm; number of parts: 124; difficulty: 2.
Information about pattern and model:
Although historically overshadowed by the Gloster Meteor and bearing the label of the "second only" jet fighter to enter service with the British Royal Air Force, the de Havilland Vampire is an extremely significant aircraft in its own right. The Vampire was the first RAF aircraft to develop a speed in excess of 800 km/h, and was also the first single-engine jet to fly across the Atlantic Ocean, making it one of the world's most significant early jets. The FB.5 fighter-bomber was then the most important variant of this aircraft, of which 1,123 were produced, of which 930 served in the Royal Air Force, while those destined for service overseas were designated FB.9 and had air-conditioned cabins.
